Is there anything cuter than a newborn baby? No. There just isn’t. So when my best friend had an adorable baby girl this week, it instantly sparked an idea for me. While baby Piper is much cuter than these cookies, they do give her a run for her money!

I texted my bestie to see if she likes Silver or Gold better, and after a delayed response of “Hmm…idk” I decided to give both color schemes a shot. I started with gold and didn’t love it, so I abandoned it half way through and started on my silver idea.

Stars are one of my favorite things, and we both have a tattoo with stars, so it seemed like a natural choice for the baby swaddle blanket. I make a stencil and airbrushed it silver and I loved it. Next, I needed the perfect blingy bow. Truth be told, this was much more for my taste than hers. I used a few coats of pearl luster dust that I dry dusted over the bow. Though it didn’t photograph very well, it was very sparkly in person!

I also gave her a cute pink binky, and rosy cheeks. I am going to work on making a boy version of this in the coming weeks!

I live in Iowa, and we have a small grocery chain called Fareway. Their bakery has the biggest and best tasting Monster cookies I’ve ever had. For those of you who are friends with me on Snapchat, you have seen my videos of devotion for these small slices of heaven. And guys….I not only made a Monster cookie that is as big as my head, but it also tastes  better than the one I have loved at Fareway. They are soft, chewy, and addicting.

I have decided to share this recipe, because it is just so good, and a bonus- it’s gluten free! I added this recipe under my ‘Recipe’ page. Note- learn from my mistakes and do not try to make 2 batches of these at once… my trusty Kitchenaid could not handle it.

I roughly used a 1/2 cup measuring cup to portion out the dough, and then rolled each portion into a dough ball.

Yield: 11-12 Cookies the size of your head

I don’t know about you, but I heavily rely on coffee to help get me through the day. Likely five cups, spiked with Bailey’s, if my husband or children have a cold. You know what I’m talking about! A perfect match with coffee is a donut. Preferably a pink non diet donut (non diet = topped with rainbow sprinkles).

These cookies are all 1 piece and you can find the cutter in my Etsy shop. The color combo’s are really endless in this lovely pair, and you could easily swap out the donut for a cinnamon roll, or some other delish pastry.

To create these cookies I outlined the coffee sleeve with white royal icing and then flooded with white icing as well. Once the frosting was set, I broke out the airbrush and tried a few different fun patterns. Next, I did the black coffee lid with an outline/flood technique. Then I finished the rest of the solid fill portions of the cup, allowing room for the planned donut. Finally, I finished outlining the donut and filling with pink icing and of course, real sprinkles.

I’m already thinking about the next color combo’s of these and really love them!

If you are sick of mushy Valentine’s Day cookies, raise your hand. Yeah, me too. In fact, I can’t remember the last time I got my husband a Valentine’s Day card that wasn’t inappropriate! I decided this year I would turn my ideas into cookies.

And that’s how the “I’d nail you” cookies came to be.

I designed the hammer cookie cutter, and a heart nail cookie cutter for the perfect pun, and then created the stencil. This is the only set I’ve been able to complete this year, but I promise next year will have way more as I already have TONS of ideas! Can you imagine delivering this to your lovers workplace? Ha!

I’ve been prepping daily for D-day, err I mean V-day, though the amount of orders I have for the Conversation Heart boxes is a little daunting!

One of the most common questions I get asked is “How do your sugar cookie shapes stay so perfect?!” There are really two simple things you can do to prevent your sugar cookies from spreading, and will completely rock your cookie world. Are you ready? Ok, here goes:

1. Do not use baking soda or baking powder in your recipe. The sole purpose of those ingredients is to allow your baked goods to rise. If you omit those ingredients, they will not spread.
2. Roll your sugar cookie dough when room temperature, then pop it in the refrigerator to chill for at least 15 minutes. Then, when you go to use your cookie cutters, you will get clean shapes and you can easily move the shapes without distorting the image.

I took a few pictures of some of the heart cookies I made tonight to give you an idea of how much these simple steps can help.
